Partnering to Expand Our Sphere of Influence

John GeorgeJohn George of the CWLA

John George is a senior consultant for the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA), one of the oldest child advocacy organizations in the United States. NICWA and CWLA partner on many joint initiatives aimed at strengthening ICWA compliance across the United States.

John finds that NICWA provides critical resources, advocacy, training, publications, and support services to tribal and urban American Indian communities. NICWA’s services help these communities set policies and create programs that support American Indian children and families. “It excites us that communities have access to NICWA’s state-of-the-art resources and technical assistance,” says John. “We know first-hand that NICWA provides invaluable support every day to mainstream child welfare organizations on which we depend to do the right thing in child welfare decision-making and services involving Native children, families and communities.”

Over the years, the partnership between NICWA and CWLA has helped each organization improve the lives of more children than either organization could do by itself.
