Joni Williams joined the NICWA team as the child welfare director in February 2021. She is a member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. Joni has a bachelor of arts in sociology from Washington State University. Before joining NICWA, Joni worked as the child welfare director for the Nez Perce Tribe. Joni has eight years of experience working in tribal child welfare and is a humble leader who is passionate about empowering tribal people and communities. She is grateful for her new role here at NICWA and is looking forward to building capacity in tribal communities.
