As the Trump Administration moves quickly to enact its policy agenda, tribal and urban Native human service programs are already seeing the early effects—and anticipating more to come. Executive orders and directives issued since January 2025 span a wide range of issues, from workforce and federal funding to diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, and beyond.
While some of these directives may take time to implement—or may face legal challenges—tribal nations and urban Native organizations need clear, up-to-date information to track what’s changing and prepare accordingly.
To support this, we’ve compiled a living resource: 2025 Summaries of Presidential Executive Orders and Directives with Impacts for Tribal Human Services. This document highlights key EOs and directives with potential implications for tribal human services and provides links to additional resources to help inform your organizational response.
This is part one of an ongoing series. We will continue to monitor developments and provide updated summaries as new directives are issued and their impacts become clearer.
